Two trains an hour, a station in the centre

The Breda–Eindhoven line has been running through Oisterwijk since 1865. It still does most of the work.

By train

Oisterwijk has had a station since 1 May 1865, when the Breda–Eindhoven line opened. Today it's served by the NS Sprinter (stoptrein), running roughly twice an hour in both directions between Tilburg Universiteit and Weert. Local trains stop here; intercity trains pass through. The current network connections are:

The station building is the original 1865 structure (rebuilt and modernised over the years) and sits on the north side of the centre. The walk to De Lind takes about five minutes south down Stationsstraat. Tickets via NS Reisplanner or any contactless OV-chipkaart-compatible payment.

By car

Oisterwijk is signed from the A58 motorway between Tilburg and Eindhoven. Take exit 9 or 10 (signposted Oisterwijk / Moergestel) and follow signs. Parking in the centre is metered; the easiest free parking is at the larger village edges or in the Nature Gate car parks if you're heading directly to the reserve. The A2 north–south motorway gives a direct line from Amsterdam via Utrecht.

By bike

The Netherlands' national bike network connects Oisterwijk directly to the wider region. Riding in from Tilburg, Den Bosch or Eindhoven is genuinely pleasant — most of the route is on dedicated cycle paths through countryside. Bike rental (including e-bikes) is available in the village and at the station via OV-fiets. The numbered knooppunten system makes navigation simple.

From Schiphol Airport

The easiest route is train: Schiphol → Tilburg (intercity), then change to the local stoptrein to Oisterwijk. Total time roughly 80 minutes with a single comfortable change. There is no need to take a taxi for the last leg; the station is in the village centre.

From Brussels Airport

Less direct but doable. Train via Antwerp and Roosendaal, change at Tilburg. Allow 3 to 3.5 hours.

At the station, when you arrive

  • Bike rental (OV-fiets) — bikes available at station racks with an OV-chipkaart.
  • Bus stop "Station NS" outside for local bus connections.
  • Taxi rank outside, though most things in the village are walkable.
  • Step-free access from platform to street.
  • No staffed ticket office; ticket machines and contactless payment.
"Five minutes from the station to a terrace on De Lind. The town is built for visitors who travel light."

Getting from station to reserve

The reserve is roughly 3 km south of the station. Options:

  • Walk — about 35 minutes south. Pleasant; takes you through the centre.
  • Bike — about 10–12 minutes on dedicated paths. Pick up a rental at the station.
  • Bus — limited; the schedule is light. Check 9292.nl.
  • Taxi — quickest if you're tight on time. Five minutes; modest cost.

Practical travel tips

  • Trains in the Netherlands accept contactless cards (Visa, Mastercard, Apple/Google Pay) directly — tap in at the gate, tap out at destination.
  • Tickets are slightly cheaper if you book ahead online with NS.
  • Avoid rush hour (07:30–09:00, 16:30–18:00) for the most comfortable journey.
  • Bicycles travel on trains free outside rush hour; with a small surcharge in rush hour.
  • Folding bikes travel free always.
The clean version. Schiphol to Oisterwijk in eighty minutes with one change at Tilburg. Walk five minutes to your hotel. Drop your bag. Coffee on the terrace. That's it.

The car is genuinely optional. Many regular visitors skip it.
